About YP Art & Culture

The first Yorke Peninsula Art Exhibition was held in 1999 and became a biennial event in 2002. The event has won two SA Great Regional Awards for Art in 2006 and 2008, an Advantage SA Award in 2010 and was admitted into the Hall of Fame in 2010 for recognition of “outstanding achievements and significant contributions demonstrating excellence in regional leadership”.

GROUNDED in 2023 was the 12th event to be held and upholds the tradition of showcasing a diverse exhibition program and inclusion of local school students, as well as attracting well-known and new artists across the region, state and nationally. GROUNDED introduced an extension of the art workshops, artist panels and music to create an energetic and engaging program for the local community and visitors. In 2025 GROUNDED won the LG Professionals Award for Excellence in Community Partnership and Collaboration.

GROUNDED recognises the long-established partnerships and support within the community developed over the lifetime of the former YP Art Exhibition. GROUNDED upholds and enhances the diverse art programme, with the main exhibitions at three key townships.  For a greater festival experience, it also offers workshops, music, and performances at varied venues and other events across the 10-day event.

GROUNDED is committed to attracting visitors to our region as a desirable holiday destination with stunning beaches and landscapes and friendly towns offering a smorgasbord of food, beverages and retail. We strongly recognise the importance of our local entrepreneurs and businesses to our local economy and the role they play in supporting The Arts.
